This deeply carved silver bracelet is a stunning example of the highly coveted work of Jicarilla Apache/Navajo jeweler, Gibson Nez.  Made in 1997, the piece has been carefully maintained and is in perfect condition.  The turquoise stone is a beautiful blue green with brownish matriz, probably natural Number 8.  Gibson was known to only use the very best turquoise stones, and took ribbons on his work from an extensive list of premier shows.

I first met Gibson in southern Arizona in the mid-1980's and remained friends with him through the years.  Sadly, he passed away in 2007.

GIBSON NEZ, Jicarilla Apache/Navajo, is known throughout the Indian arts industry and by collectors worldwide as the master of stamp work. No other craftsman comes close to the expert precision of his sharp, clean, impossibly close stamps. Parallel lines, a hairs-breadth apart, encircle bolos and bracelets like radiants of energy, drawing your eye to the extraordinary, gem-grade stone Gibson handpicks to feature in the center. Stamp work of Gibson’s caliber requires pain-staking patience and an eye for balance.

“What is important to me is to make one nice piece, not a lot of mediocre pieces.” G. Nez
